Bike MS: Colorado 2015: Miss Xenia S Matteson - National MS Society

Let's Move Forward Together
Currently there is no cure for MS. The money that is raised at this event and others like it will be used to find the cause, treatment, and ultimately the cure of multiple sclerosis. The money is also used to provide education, information, direct financial aid, and scholarships to individuals and families living with MS. By sponsoring me you too will MAKE YOUR MARK in this pursuit.

Dora Moore's new counselor, Ms. C came to our class today!

She read a book about friendship and then the students worked on an art activity.  The incorporated a sentence and one work to describe what friendship means to them.

We can't wait for her to come back!!!

With Dia de los Muertos just around the corner, students have been learning about the famous artist Diego Rivera.

We have been using a biography about him to study characters.  Sam Thornham (Dora Moore's famous story teller) came to our class to share a print he has of Diego's work.  While telling a story to our class one day, he noticed the book I planned on using.  We decided it was a great opportunity to connect a character in a book to something the students could see from Sam.

(Sam reading the description on the back of the print.)

(Sam and his "ghost" balloon.  Ask your student about how the "ghost" was really just science!)
(Same showing the students the print.)

The students learned that Diego loved to paint what he saw, whether it was good or bad.  He became a famous artist because he practiced and never gave up, even when people didn't agree with his beliefs.

THANK YOU SAM FOR SHARING!!!!!!!!

This will be sent home on Monday.  Please return it on Tuesday.

Using Diversity to Teach Students
If any way you are not comfortable filling this out, please don’t. I am asking these questions so that I can add to my teaching so it is more relevant to your child.  Also, other students learn from each other, especially through differences.
